Playing games online might be fun on its own but technology giant, Intel is about to bring more fun into gaming by breaking off the limitations between the players on both end. This move would enable players to compete with each other in virtual reality thus setting the real (human) world on a collision course within a virtual space. However, Intel is alone in carrying out this project as it would be partnering with Oculus and one of its long time consort, ESL as they attempt to set the Virtual Reality Challenger League in motion. Aside ESL partnership [with Intel] to actualize the purpose of virtual reality, the two- Intel and ESL- have also struck a deal that would allow Intel’s processors power the PCs and supporting systems that will be used in the championship.
But how will the league be played?
Expectations are rife towards the launch of the gaming series; the series starts off in July and one can be certain that gaming world will not be disappointed when the league gets underway. The league comes alive with players entering the series with their VR headsets and computers that operate with an appreciable speed. At the initial stage the players will engage each other solely online but the final stage will see players [that is, the finalists] squaring off in person against each other at Intel Extreme Masters World Championship slated for 2018 and the winner is declared after the rounds of matches.
Although the effort that has been put into the project is quite commendable but this exercise is not without its challenges. Among the evident challenges, is the cost of the gaming series [especially with high demand placed on entering the series]; another hurdle is its low popularity among folks- this is understandable when one considers the fact that this (virtual reality) is just the first of its kind.
To wrap this up; in putting this project together, Intel has succeeded in delving into the quarters that many have not dared to go and it is only wise that they promote the series with fervency in order to get game freaks to buy into the vision of virtual reality. Without any doubt, this gaming series could go down into the annals of history as one of the very games that change the perception of the gaming world.
